D5.5 The Potential of Chargers With a Higher Switching Frequency Capability for the Preconditioning and Monitoring of Battery Systems
Executive Summary
Deliverable D5.5 “The Potential of Chargers with A Higher Switching Frequency Capability for the Preconditioning and Monitoring of Battery Systems” discusses a literature research. The goal of the literature research is to identify the potential of chargers with a higher switching frequency capability. Hopefully this will provide well supported arguments to continue, steer and fuel research and development activities. In return, the research and development activities will contribute to the decarbonization of the transportation system. This review is carried out in support of the main goal of the HiPERFORM project (HiPERFORM, 2018). The main goal of HiPERFORM is the development and optimization of a resource-efficient and decarbonized transportation system. This is achieved by applying advanced Wide Band Gap (WBG) technologies in electronic power circuits of electrified vehicles and charging infrastructures. In this specific case, on/off board chargers for electric vehicles utilizing GaN/SiC switches are used.
